Start with the work

A reference for construction safety work

Part 1926 contains OSHA’s construction safety and health standards. For contractors, site supervisors and safety coordinators, a construction reference provides a place to look up the requirements behind job planning and safety discussions.

The type of work matters. OSHA’s definition of construction includes alteration and repair, including painting and decorating. A business’s industry label alone does not answer every question about which standards apply.

Use the book to locate relevant text, then check the current rule and its scope for the task you are reviewing. Read OSHA’s construction-work definition.

Find your starting point

What does a 1926 reference help you look up?

Use these subject areas to orient yourself within Part 1926. They are a starting point for finding the applicable section, not a complete jobsite checklist.

Scaffolds

Subpart L is the starting point for scaffolding provisions.

Fall protection

Subpart M addresses fall protection. Read its scope and exclusions for your activity.

Excavations

Subpart P covers excavations, including trenching.

Stairways and ladders

Subpart X addresses stairways and ladders used in construction.

Make the reference useful

Full reference, pocket guide or student materials?

Choose the full 1926 volume for regulation text, a construction pocket guide for a compact summary, or student booklets for class handouts.

Browse construction books and training materials to build your materials list.

Do you also need 1910?

If your responsibilities include general industry work as well as construction, review both sets of requirements. The 1926 publisher lists selected 1910 provisions in its construction book; that does not make it a complete 1910 volume.

Questions before buying a 1926 book

Is the 1926 book an OSHA training course?

No. It is a reference publication. It does not replace required training, a course completion card or a site-specific safety program.

Can I get the construction book in Spanish?

Yes. Select Spanish on the product page, then choose your preferred format and quantity.

Does the USB arrive immediately by email?

No. The USB sold here is a shipped physical item. Choose it for computer-based reference, allowing for fulfillment and delivery.

Can I use this book for an exam or course?

Check your course or exam provider’s exact requirements for publisher, edition, binding and permitted annotations before buying. We do not claim universal exam approval.

Can I read the regulations online?

Yes. OSHA provides the construction standards online. A commercial reference offers another reading format; it does not replace checking the current official text. Use the OSHA link above when reviewing later changes.
